Help make a difference in the lives of young moms & their families.  Join us in furthering our mission of expressing God’s love by surrounding young moms with all they need to transform their lives!

If you are interested in volunteering as an individual, you must first attend Volunteer Orientation.  After attending Volunteer Orientation, and passing the screening process (which includes two background checks), you are welcome to request one of our volunteer opportunities listed below.   If you’d like to get more information, please email volunteer@newmomsinc.org or call Emily Mikhail at 773.252.3253 x135.

Academy Tutors: as needed
Assist participants with increasing their math and reading scores as well as other job search support.

Job Shadow: During business hours
Allow a participant in our workforce training program to shadow you for up to three hours at your job. Participants will provide their own transportation.

Welcome Center Ambassador: Weekdays (9am – 5pm)
Be the first point of contact for all visitors – both in person and on the phone.  Greet guests, answer questions & facilitate seemless operation of the front desk.

Job Search Assistant: Fridays (9:30am – 12:30pm)
Provide participants with support as they job search, conduct mock interviews, help with resume building and/or completing online application.

Donation Distribution: Fridays (1pm – 5pm)
Organize & distribute donations

Candle Production Assistance: On-going during the day (9am – 3pm)
Provide support to participants at our social enterprise.  Assist in production, sales, and distribution.

Special Events (Bright Endeavors): Occasional weekdays/end as needed
Provide customer service & sales support, alongside New Moms participants as they sell Dream Bean products in various locations.

Child Enrichment: 2nd + 4th Tuesdays (5:00-7:15pm at New Moms); Mondays (8:30-11:30am or 6:30-8:00pm at Parenthesis)
Assist in the child care program during program and parent support group time.  You will assist staff with child enrichment activities. Children in the program range from birth to 5 years.

Donation Drive Coordinator
Coordinate a special drive (i.e. diaper drive, Enfamil drive, welcome pack drive, back to school drive) with your church, school or work.  Find out what New Moms currently needs & coordinate to get those specific items for our participants & their children.

Special Events
Help plan and implement events throughout the year.

Delivery & Pick-up
Pick-up donations around the city & deliver them to New Moms. Dates & times vary.  Must have a vehicle, valid driver’s license and willing to use own gas.

Photography
Help us capture special moments by taking photos of our young moms and their children.

Facilities Upkeep & Maintenance
Help is needed to accomplish various maintenance projects, move large items, assemble furniture, clean restrooms, mop, pull weeds, organize etc.

Cleaning
Help is occasionally needed to clean 3 play areas. Person must be able to routinely move and clean objects.

Lunch: Tuesday or Thursday (12-1pm)
Volunteer would be responsible for preparing lunch and will have the opportunity to interact with the participants enrolled in the Academy. Volunteer is responsible to prepare the lunch at home, bring to New Moms, and enjoy lunch with participants & then clean up afterwards.  Must be willing to provide, prepare & deliver food.

Professional Speaker: Tuesday  or  Thursday (5:00-7:30pm)
Facilitate topics at evening Parent Support Groupto enhance the quality of participants’ life through parenting, life skills, and making informed decisions.
