Terri joined New Moms in September 2020 after reading a glowing endorsement from the Chicago Foundation for Women. After learning more about the population New Moms served and their outcomes, Terri knew this was a team she wanted to be part of.
In her role as Director of Housing, Terri provides leadership in the management of New Mom’s growing supportive housing portfolio that includes 40 transitional, 18 permanent, and 15 scattered-site units. She provides direction to an awesome four-member housing team and does her best to ensure the department provides culturally proficient, trauma-informed services.
Terri is an inclusive leader who has served in the non-profit world for almost 15 years. She has a demonstrated commitment to serving at-risk families in North Lawndale, Garfield Park, and now the Austin community. Terri is also a Council of Accreditation peer reviewer with experience implementing program best practices in service delivery. Falling in love with St. Vincent DePaul’s model of servant leadership, Terri earned both undergraduate degrees in Psychology and a Master’s of Non-Profit Management from DePaul University.
Favorite New Moms’ value: Empowerment. “Not only do I think it is important to empower those us around us to write their own story, but also it is equally important to make space for people to tell their story too.”
