Laura became the President and CEO of New Moms in 2013. Laura considers it a privilege to lead a dynamic organization like New Moms and our social enterprise, Bright Endeavors. Laura’s career has been focused on growing and developing effective nonprofit organizations. Under her leadership, New Moms has doubled in size, expanding its geographic footprint and capacity to transform the lives of mothers and children in Chicago. With nearly 20 years’ leadership experience in the non-profit sector, Laura came to New Moms after serving in leadership roles in the nonprofit sector in capacity building, legal aid, higher education, and child welfare. She has a B.A. in Sociology from Trinity Christian College; a M.A. in Social Work from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration; and a Ph.D. in Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University. Laura was a Chicago Community Trust Nonprofit Leadership Fellow in 2010 and currently serves as a board member of Chicago Jobs Council and Trinity Christian College. She was recently awarded the “20 Years and 20 Leaders Award” from North Park University for her excellence in non-profit leadership.
In addition, she is a regular columnist for Nonprofit Pro and a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council. She’s also recognized as a thought leader in the nonprofit sector, quoted and published in outlets like Forbes, the Chicago Tribune, the Christian Science Monitor, Nation Swell, and Thrive Global.
