Why I Joined…

“I had the honor of joining the New Moms Board in 2022. As a women’s health professional, I witness firsthand the critical role that social determinants of health play in the physical and mental health of my patients. New Moms plays an invaluable role in improving health outcomes by providing resources, fostering esteem and a sense of community, and educating young moms and families. My curiosity for New Moms was piqued after passing the center during a morning commute. After learning more about the mission and being invited to participate in the prenatal education and classes, I was determined to be more involved.”

Fun Fact…

Dakisha’s favorite children’s book is “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. “This story highlights the goal of living a purposeful life no matter how simple the purpose may seem, and the importance of learning from the past and those who came before us. I am to respect the role and purpose that every event and person has played on my journey.”
