Job Training

Chicago and Western Suburbs

A path to gainful employment is critical for the long-term thriving of youth experiencing poverty. Our Job Training program sees a great opportunity to invest in the lives of young moms, who have exponential influence on the lives of their families and communities, to lead their families out of poverty and create hopeful possibilities for their futures. Our comprehensive, 16-week paid program targets young moms ages 16-24. Through a blend of classroom and on-the-job training at our social enterprise candle company, Bright Endeavors, the participants of our program have the opportunity to develop and strengthen their professional skills and prepare to succeed in the workforce.

Production assistants (as our participants are called) are coached in proper professional conduct, preparing for interviews, crafting the perfect resumé, working effectively on a team, conducting quality control, are provided assistance in job searching, and much more. Additionally, each production assistant is supported to continue along their educational path. Education is a critical component to long term stability and success. Young moms come to New Moms in various stages of education and are working to complete their high school diploma, their GED, or have started post-secondary education. Through our Job Training program we work with each young mom to support her as she explores her options for ongoing education to pursue her life and career goals.
